It has been kept mechanically solid. All the repairs are performed by myself (I have owned 5 BMWs), per ISTA-D specifications. All single-use hardware (bolts/nuts) always replaced, everything always torqued per factory spec. The engine and drivetrain are bone-dry with zero fluid leaks.
Maintenance & Parts History
All parts used are OEM BMW or high-quality OES (Lemförder, Bilstein, Bosch, Elring/Reinz, Meyle, Febi). No cheap aftermarket brands. I can look up every part receipt on fcpeuro/esctuning/rockauto/pelicanparts etc.
- Suspension & Chassis: Full front and rear suspension refresh (replaced control arms, trailing arms, bushings, subframe bushings, and differential bushings; front control arms are ZHP). Bilstein HD shocks and struts installed front and back (2018). Hood sensor.
- Drivetrain: LUK OEM clutch and flywheel replacement, pilot bearing. Replaced both guibos and the propeller shaft center support bearing, engine mounts, transmission mounts. Differential resealed and driveshaft seal replaced (2020). Streeting shaft guibo replaced.
- Engine & Seals: Oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and oil filter housing gasket replaced. DISA valve and all vacuum lines replaced (mostly transitioned to silicone lines). Tensioner, idler pulleys (2024), PCV system, DISA valve (2023).
- Cooling: Full cooling system refresh, including the water pump (2018). Flushed with BMW blue coolant (a few times already).
- Fuel & Ignition: New Bosch fuel pump, new ignition coils, and new spark plugs.
- Brakes: Front calipers rebuilt. Newer rotors and pads installed front and back (Zimmerman/Akebono).
- Electrical & AC: Alternator rebuilt. Final Stage Resistor (FSR) and engine fan replaced (2024). AC system flushed and recharged. A brand new battery will be installed for the sale.
Fluids & Consumables
- Engine oil changed every 3k–5k miles with synthetic Castrol 0W-40.
- Differential and transmission fluids replaced.
- Brake fluid and coolant regularly flushed.
- Tires have less than 5k miles on them.
Interior & Exterior Condition
- Exterior: Good condition overall. No clear coat peeling; the hood, roof, trunk, and rear bumper were repainted last year. There is a parking lot ding on the passenger door present since I bought the car. Quarter-glass trim replaced; vent window inner gasket seal; trunk grip lip
- Interior: Replaced with a full black interior. Includes new OEM M3 black fabric pillars and a headliner re-upholstered in original German factory sourced BM34 fabric. Only sun-visors are used from an M3. The rest of the interior is original and in good shape for the age.
- Seat Wear: The driver’s seat has a 2-inch seam tear and two 4-inch creases on the bolster where the finish separated. Both have been stabilized/repaired with leatherette patches. Some side bolster seam wear.
Quirks:
- Some front negative camber (see in pictures) I could not resolve through my ownership; I put up with it.
The car was maintained faithfully with the intention of keeping it long-term, but I have switched to another BMW. 193k seems a lot, but I sold my E30 at 340k miles, and now have 2 E90s at 220k+ and a Volvo 280k+. You just need to show cars some love and maintain them.
